Um, I don't know if the AK-47 is really a contribution to science exactly. :hmm:

And the Ak-47 was also a direct copy of the German mp44...

that is a complete lie...

if you examin the parts inside the AK and the german one they are completely different.

I might have expressed myself a bit wrong writing "direct" but the concept and idea of the Ak-47 is based on the MP44.

What's the difference between them? They both mercilessly slay people, all else is trivia.

We cloned a sheep. Well the Scots did. But the rest of us Brits take the credit for it too.

Electricity, the lightbulb, the telephone, the car, the atomic bomb, the airplane, blood transfusions, penicilin (I might be wrong about penicilin, but I'm pretty sure), the gun magazine, the theory of relativity. Go America.

the theory of relativity

That's not American. Einstein may have lived in America after he developed it, but he wrote the papers while living Switzerland. In addition, he was raised in Europe.

the telephone

Invented in Canada.

penicilin

Discovered in England.

Electricity

There was no singular invention of electricity, and research into its characteristics happened around the World. No single country can claim credit for 'inventing' it.

Oh steve you're just being picky...

"lived in Europe"... smeurope, heh...

We also invented that plastic thingy on the end of your shoelaces! We invented trash compacters, the internet (well Al Gore did), pants, the Sun, geothermal living, television, radio waves, nighttime walks in the park, comedy, William Shakespere, Hydro-electric dams, chickens, the hot dog, the hot dog bun, ketchup, pizza, the mouse for your computer, American Football, sun tan lotion, bikini waxes, porn, the modern airplane as we know it, The atomic bomb (with much help from German scientists, -Note I said bomb not the theory behind it), The sterotypical car salesman, zip lock bags, the car crusher, oak trees, silly putty, duct tape (won us WWII you know...well that an the Russians, British, and French underground), Japan, Fangoria magazine, Satellite televison, Tivo, rubber soled shoes, teflon, courdoroy, junk mail, junk e-mail, spam (the kind in a can), Tang, American cheese, McDonalds ( :?: ), bastardized foreign food, zit cream, open heart surgerory, staples instead of stitches, Burritos, toe fungus remover, surf boards, surf board wax, bees, honey, honey mustard, Tylenol, the shower cap, emery boards, and the mother of all inventions: Breast Implants!!!

Take that world! You ain't got nothing on us!!!

(note- some of the things listed above may have been invented in other countries, or by God,... I just figured some of them had to be right by default!!!)

Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky invented helicopter

Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky pioneer of aeronautics and space travel

Vladimir Kosma Zworykin invented cathode ray

Actually most of the relativity theory was also developed by Lorentz some time before Einstein.

As for my country, we cannot boast a lot of scientific achievements. There have been some inventions by Colombians, but the most prominent contribution to science (and maybe the only one which is noticed internationally) is Elkin Patarroyo's development of the Malaria vaccine. Its too bad that our government chose not to finance his project and he had to seek money elsewhere.

Oh, and I think the British invented the computer. Something to do wih this Bletchley Park guy (the placed where they decrypted German messages in WW2, I don't remember the man's name right now).

the german army was researching and almost created the atomic bomb...sadly like the V2...it was never complete or fully used thanks to Hitler's poor military tactics.

That wasn't Hitler's fault, the project was actually sabotaged by the Allies which bought them the time to defeat Hitler. The German's were very, very close to having the bomb, though.

I can't imagine if that single thing that could of been created by them would of been the turning point in Hitler's defeat.

Erm, the V2 was used. Some of them hit London.

Oh, and we invented computers :)

They did.

Americans have to stop taking credit for everything. Most of your bright minds and good actors are Canadian, so stop bragging.
