Lets be honest guys, there are hundreds of other topics you can derail into racial debates. Leave this one for sport discussion please.

No, because it is highly relevant. Don't tell me it isn't political when you have dancers forming the CND symbol and bloody Doreen Lawrence and Shami Chakrabarti carrying the Olympic flag. It was a huge state-sponsored celebration of the liberal, multicultural ideology which dominates this country and every possible opportunity was taken to squeeze in as many brown faces as possible. It put forth a highly political vision so don't be surprised when people criticise the politics behind it.

It's a silly comment Stranger, you know as well as I do that Britain has been a multi-ethnic society for over 50 years.

Of course, but I'm puzzled by the over-representation going on in the opening ceremony, which was obviously depicting British history. I smell an agenda behind it which I don't like. If that puts me in the far-right or authoritarian left corner, so be it.

But it was. Did you see all the black people in the opening score? Britain is, like, 3% black

Oh dear...... how terribly poorly reasoned this is. Those folk were volunteers, most of them from the local area. London. So it's not surprising to see more blacks represented than would be if the volunteers were garnered from the rest of the country.

Watch the commonwealth games from glasgow in a few years and see if a similar proportionality arises......

No sports took place today

The ignorance continues........

Should you be posting in topic you know so little about?

About the opening, was I the only one who found the Churchill statue waving back to the queen a bit creepy? The whole 'James Bond escorting the Queen' theme was totally believable up to that point.

And I think they should have made more cultural cross-overs like that. The Bond thing was nice. And having Mr. Bean in the middle of the orchestra was quite interesting too. It wouldn't have hurt to have a TARDIS materializing in the middle of the stadium, and have Matt Smith come out, playing the Doctor. They could have had Daniel Radcliffe arrive in a flying broom. Also Peter Pan, Lara Croft, the cast from SKINS and the Archers. Maybe something related to Narnia. It would have been a lot better than that crappy Facebook sequence.

Maybe you were. They did know each other, after all - he was her first prime minister.

It did include Voldemort, an excerpt from Peter Pan, and the Archers theme tune. So they had roughly the same ideas as you. I'm not sure what your point is.

The Chinese are killing it again. Red menace is back...seriously their uniforms are very similar to the Soviets.

I've said since 08 Phelps won't win another individual Gold, watch him die at the 200 butterfly today.

When I saw the opening ceremony, the first thing I told my wife was "why are there a bunch of black people? I thought the UK was supposed to be white?"

What all countries need to start doing is cherry picking and forcing the best of each country to train for the Olympics. In addition, if you lose you should get tortured by your govenrment. Losing is shameful.

That's already being done in one country, at least...

Yea, I know China is also doing this to a degree. Though, they aren't torturing people if they lose, but they do go to all the local schools and basically force those that are the physically best to start training.

I think the US should be more like NK.

I wonder how much it requires forcing in the end, considering that a career as a national athlete targetting the olympics must be quite an opportunity for an individual in a country like China.
