As Oculus Rift comes out an interesting new experiment has come out. I'm sure as VR technologies become more sophisticated it will be used for porn and other such projects. My question is twofold. 1) How will people's identities be morphed by being able to inhabit the body of another? Will this give people a new insight on how they interact with others much like the proverbial fat suit, but with much less expense and can be used by anyone? 2) How will this change public policy and the social structures that we encounter in our everyday lives including school, work, social situations, politics, etc?

Physics is like sex. Sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it.
