How do you answer a question like that?

I would say read your notes and answer using them.

Depends on when. Post 1395 IIRC everyone had to be a member of the Hitler Youth, but there was opposition from youths such as the Eidelweiss pirates.

Because of the mandatory enrolement in the Hitler Youth such a thing is hard to gauge. Success varied. There was the SS Hitler Jugend and there were those who only went along with Nazi stuff because they had to. However I would say that winning hearts and minds was irrelevant to Nazism. The important thing was indoctrination which I would imagine was fairly successful.
