Here is a small documentary on the Russian military failures in the first Chechen War as well as a podcast from Jocko Willink. The lessons were not learned by the Russian Army and we see that in the current Ukraine War. One of the things Jocko mentions is the fact an army can't stop training on the "off season." You have to train just as hard during peacetime as you do in wartime.
