The fluidic thrust vectoring uses supersonic air flows from the engines to deflect exhaust accurately enough to do away with conventional rudders. The wing circulation control system likewise uses supesonic blasts of air emitted from trailing wing edges, as an analog of traditional moving parts (flaps and ailerons).
This is especially invaluable for future stealth designs, reducing mechanical interfaces that reflect incoming radar pulses.
