From the discussion today some historically relevant footage from a US plane over former Yugoslavia, you can clearly hear the various alerts from the radar warning receiver as the engagement is conducted (listen to how long the radar stays on air for), as well as the high speed anti-radiation missiles being launched in response.

I believe the tracked vehicle is the 9S15M Obzor-3 3D surveillance radar for the S-300V area defense missile system, what its humping appears to be a MAZ-537 transporter. :)

You can see all the components and the deployment in the video below, the Obzor radar has an unusual folding and rotating antenna but it gives the system a huge radar antenna with excellent mobility...

The USN is thinking about its anti-ship missile capability again and perhaps not without good reason. The new tomahawk will have some impressive networking capabilities but while capable land attack platforms the tomahawk is a poor performance anti-ship missile, especially against 'an advanced air defense system'. Note the Russian Slava's Fregat radar is not turning, having the 'advanced' air defenses not turned on is probably the most successful scenario for this type of missile today.

Last year my biggest aviation-related dream came true as the first Focke Wulf 190A (an A-5 model from 1943) restored with its original BMW 801 engine took flight. This is so far the only airworthy Focke Wulf with an original engine. There are a few more powered by Shvetsov ASh-82 engines that powered Russian Lavochkin fighters (most of these 190's are replicas and not the real stuff of history).

This aircraft was found in the woods in Russia in 1989, this is how it looked like then (this is a remarkably good condition for a WW2 plane to be found in after so much time)

There is another Focke Wulf being restored to airworthiness with its original engine, but this one will most likely not be finished any time soon.
