You know ww2 germany had hundreds of jets that could fly circles around their enemies, and ballistic missiles, weaponry a generation or two ahead of what the rest had to offer....didn't do shit.

All those things came to late to change the outcome of the war.

Going the expensive route, even if you can afford it in the short term, will ensure you end up surrounded and outnumbered on all fronts.
