I think America's funding of the Ukranian army and how it relates to America's (the only real country) aims of global force projection is a valid point of discussion, but as for who I sympathize with: I'm going to go with the people fighting off an invasion by an imperial power. In the West we're all fighting the Nazis

Well at least 99 percent of us are. When people in the West support the Ukraine they're fighting the Nazis, they're fighting Putler, the new Hitler. You only have to look at the Wagner group to know their Nazis. Yes, yes, yes the Azov formation was perhaps an incy, wincy little bit Nazi. Maybe, just maybe, the resemblance of their insignia to 2nd SS Panzer wasn't a total coincidence. But even if was and I'm not saying it was Azov are not the reason that, most westerners are supporting Ukraine. They are not backing Ukraine because of a love of Azov and Stephan Bandera. Lets be honest friends a lot these Liberals are not exactly widely read, most of them had probably never heard of Stephan Bandera.

Similarly many of the harder leftists are backing Russia because they oppose Nazism. Because they oppose hate filled racist liberal bigots that openly call the Russians sub humans. They oppose the racist filth westerners who never gave a fuck for the millions of very dark skinned Africans that have died in conflicts over the last decades, but are white hot with rage, because they see the freedoms of decent Ukrainian White people abused by what they see as Asiatic sub humans.

If you look at the conflict around Gaza, you will again see that most westerners whether they are the most hard line supporters of Israel or the most hard line supporters of Hamas see it as part of the struggle to defeat Hitler and the Nazis.

Every conflict the West finds itself in, or which it creates itself, is always and by definition an extension of the Second World War. Because Hitler just won’t stay defeated. He keeps reincarnating himself, sometimes in multiple people simultaneously. He’s tricky that way.

And that's why some of us support Russian intervention. The people in the Donbass were suffering a genocide and Russia (reluctantly) went in to protect them. They tried peaceful negotiations for years before that.
