Can anyone give me examples of how myths and rumours being prepetuated brought about the ethnic cleansing of certain groups, classes, religious groups. The obvious one I can think of is to do with the Nazi attack on the jews, and propaganda leaflets that circled around in the 1930's. I have a vague idea regarding the Cossaks during the Stalinist reign, can anyone else give detailed examples.

I am interested in what took place against the Chinese in South East asia, as a result of ethnic tensions.
