As I said elsewhere, the Chinese people themselves are probably complicit of the crimes of CCP.

Besides, any polling in places without enough freedom of speech is questionable.

Asking people questions about "Happiness" in countries that practice social competition at a brutal level - like we do - is also questionable.

People will put on beautiful, trendy clothing and makeup, sit out on freshly-mowed lawns, and with huge smiles on their faces, will tell pollsters that they're the happiest people who have ever lived, bar none. Bigly happy.

And it's all a lie to impress people who will never be impressed.

Actually the West has an inferior figure so the result should be more genuine.

Also those with cramped space and having severe social competition, like Japan and Korea, have a very low figure.

Which means the poll actually proved your theory (brutal social competition decreases happiness).

But China is also having brutal social competition among the people, so there must be something else. To me, (sometimes implicit) oppression means the Chinese don't actually speak their mind or have heavily distorted priorities. The true figure should be much lower.

If your salary increased 10-fold in 10 years, you'd also feel happier than most. You need to come to terms with the changes going on in that country. 70 million different Chinese exit the country and come to the west every year on holidays. They can speak their mind whenever and wherever they please. also China itself is huge with so much variety and the best transportation systems on earth. Obviously the populace isn't at a loss to move around and enjoy themselves.

With a population of 1.4 billion, 70 million is a mere 5%. This is smaller than the number of Communist Party Members, so it is probably safe to regard these people as the privileged class.

That 70 million comes from a pool of 500 million who can afford to travel abroad every few years, the middle class. It's safe to regard your reasoning as obtuse.

You just made this up in order to have something to write.

As Igor Antunov mentions, most of the people in China have seen their incomes and opportunities increase a lot in the last few decades, so they are NOT feeling like they need to compete harder than ever.

In Western capitalist countries, the extreme rich are getting better and better at skimming all the money and opportunity out of our systems, so the bottom 90% are force into hunger-game type of competitions, which are even worse than our normal inequality-based assehole-ripping of one another.

They have to compete for favour of the higher orders, influence, opportunities and safety.

There are also reports that some Taiwanese and Hongkongers (the more "patriotic" types) try their hand in Mainland China, but they find the place far too fierce in competition.

All in all, the picture of China is definitely not as rosy as you and your accomplices perceive and want to portray here.

Do you think of yourself as the high priest of Pofo, whose job it is to read tabloids and guns-and-ammo magazines and then report back to us about the superior knowledge you have acquired from these un-named sources?

You are trying to assess Chinese sociological phenomena by citing "reports" written by Western media sources (I guess that's where you found your sources). This is unconvincing.
