So no, the grain deal wasnt doing anything good for the global south.

The west also never implemented their part of the grain deal. Which meant Russia couldnt export their OWN grain into the global south either.

Unsurprisingly Russia developed other, better channels to help the south.

Really the only reason why the Russians actually continued the grain deal was apparently to help Erdogan win reelection.

And the idea that Putin seriously would believe that a famine in the global south would motivate the west to start negotiations is absolutely hilarious. Putin would have to be extremely stupid to believe that. The elites of the west dont even care about their very own populations, they happily get ukrainians killed en masse in their futile attempt to hurt Russia, so why would they care about the population of developing countries ? They would exploit such a famine for their own propaganda, that would be all that would happen.
