Recently, Japan is greatly concerned about development of economic relations between Russia and the DPRK, especially the new ferry service Rajin-Vladivostok. Russian government has repeatedly stated that it does not approve of the nuclear provocation of the DPRK, but believes that increasing economic pressure on North Korea can only aggravate the situation in the APR. For its struggle against such a policy of Russia towards to the DPRK, Japan uses the capabilities of its media, especially Japan's largest broadcasting company NHK.
Recently, the NHK Corporation is engaged in activities aimed at exposing Russia as a country that supports the aggressive policy of the DPRK, as well as unwilling to exert political and economic pressure on it.
The NHK has for a long time been imposing the idea that Russia is involved in supporting North Korea's nuclear weapons development, supplying it with engines or other parts from ballistic missiles. Particularly NHK actively highlights recent Kiev accusations of the Russian Federation, in which allegedly Russia supplies Ukrainian engines for the DPRK missile program. The article on NHK NEWS WEB on August 16, 2017 states that according to the acting chairman of the State Space Agency of Ukraine Yury Radchenko, it is possible that the engines that were previously created on the territory of Ukraine were delivered to Russia, and copies of these engines were given by Russia to North Korea. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin, commenting on this statement, wrote in his tweet: "What does" copies of engines "mean? It's not a painting or a sculpture. One can’t make it without Ukrainian specialists, capable and ready to deploy production on a foreign technological platform. Anyway, we are talking about smuggling supplies, bypassing all existing international prohibitions. " Probably, it is for this reason that the article honestly says that the Ukrainian version of Russian deliveries of copies of rocket engines may be erroneous.
In addition, on August 19, the same information resource covered the talks between Russian and Japanese foreign ministries about the situation in North Korea. It clearly shows some of the dissatisfaction of the Japanese side, due to the fact that Russia does not consider it important to provide joint economic and political pressure on North Korea. On the other hand, Japan considers it important to change Russia's relations with the DPRK, and therefore it has high hopes for the next meeting that will take place in Tokyo. Judging by the recent activities of the NHK Broadcasting Corporation, it can be guessed that it acts according to the instructions of the Japanese government, and its main task is to discredit Russia's policy towards the DPRK by any means (sometimes not entirely honest). It’s clear that Japan would like to change Russia's attitude to North Korea, but it often takes excessively aggressive countermeasures against the provocations of the DPRK. And as you know, aggression breeds aggression, and it is unlikely to change the policy of the DPRK in this way.
