Florida governor DeSantis signed into law a bill to ban abortion after 6 weeks of pregnancy.
President Biden's White House called the bill "extreme and dangerous".
The ban prohibits abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, but allows exceptions if the woman's life or health is at risk, and in cases of rape or incest, under certain conditions.
The bill passed the state House by a vote of 70 to 40.
Abortion rights supporters don't like this law because many women may not realize or be aware they are pregnant before 6 weeks.
Florida is America's 3rd largest state by population. It is also the fastest growing state, their state population surpassed the state of New York only a few years ago.
Lots of people from New York and the Northeast travel or live in Florida for several months out of the year, so it is possible this new law could affect them. If the fetus was conceived in Florida, the state is going to claim jurisdiction, even if the woman flees to some other place to do the abortion.
