 Well then, when I am speaking to another Pofoer, you don't need to pipe up with your own suggestions, unless it's on topic. :p

We're here to discuss some "thoughts on Democrats" and that also means dispelling certain myths and generalizations that are false.

The trigger wrote: have you ever heard of a little thing called a hurricane . well they happen in fl.

Whatever point you are trying to make is moot as you should not be in the house in a hurricane.

Also have you heard of looting. Yes that happens aldo.

If you are worried about looters, buy insurance from a reputable broker.

Maybe trigger does not want the looters to get away with their crime and doesn't believe he should have to pay property protection money for criminals.

Looting rumors and fear of crime often exaggerated after natural disasters
There were about 63 people charged with storm-related crimes including burglary and theft from Aug. 26, the day after Harvey made landfall, to this past Thursday, according to the Harris County district attorney's office. Harris County has a population of nearly 5 million people, including the city of Houston.
"Fears of looting are common in disasters and maybe even more common than actual looting itself," said Andy Horowitz, an assistant professor of history at Tulane University who focuses on disasters.

He said fear of crime is typical after a massive disaster, when peace of mind goes with the rest. If a person lacks basics such as clean underwear and a dry place to put their children to sleep, feeling frazzled and grasping for anything that will restore a sense of order becomes attractive, Horowitz said.

"There's no doubt that on any given day, there are people who are going to steal other people's stuff," said retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honore, who helped oversee the military response to Hurricane Katrina. "But what we see after these storms is a greatly overexaggerated concern."

In the days and weeks after Katrina made landfall, major news outlets relayed reports of rape and murder inside emergency shelters — many of which were later found to be false and may have delayed aid to evacuees. Some cable news broadcasts looped images of frantic flood survivors scavenging stores for food and supplies.

Godstud things democrat dont want to take guns odd he is wrong again . recently a congressman from california said if gun owners resist us taking thier guns we can nuke them.
No as for a natural disaster no im not parnoid or fearful.but looting takes place . people who were foolish enough not to prepare find they have no water and little food.
Also the criminal element look at the empty homes as a jackpot.
I recall the images in New Orleans of a young black man with a ak 47 shooting a helicopter on a rescue mission.thats not paranoia or fear its a display of reality

No death wish life is good.
If I wanted sucide by cop I would have shot myself years ago.
I just like having the tools to protect myself and those I love both at home and away.

If other perfer to not be able to do so that is thier choice.
Its to late to cry after you get beat or shot .
Its to late to get a gun and learn to use it when you have had your head busted and have to lay there and watch your wife or daughter being gang raped.
A gun is like a condom. Better to have one and not need it then to need it and not have it

 I don't "things" this, I know it. Can you please quote the politician and give his name, please? I doubt this very much.

As for the Democrats' stance:
We recognize that the individual right to bear arms is an important part of the American tradition, and we will preserve Americans' Second Amendment right to own and use firearms. We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation. We understand the terrible consequences of gun violence; it serves as a reminder that life is fragile, and our time here is limited and precious. We believe in an honest, open national conversation about firearms. We can focus on effective enforcement of existing laws, especially strengthening our background check system, and we can work together to enact commonsense improvements--like reinstating the assault weapons ban and closing the gun show loophole--so that guns do not fall into the hands of those irresponsible, law-breaking few.

It's also far more rare than you think, as I provided evidence of.

You cannot commit suicide or accidentally kill someone, with a condom. A condom isn't a threat to children, in the house. You're comparing completely different things, and it's rather silly. :D

His name was eric swalwell not sure about the spelling.

Im not com0aring a condom to a gun godstud its the point its better to have one and not need it then need one and not have it.

The same can be said about a bullet proof vest a can opener etc. Im not comparing the items literally but the need for something and not to have it

Maybe ots a american thing i dont know..,
But in america there are a estimated 300,000,000 fire arms .
We tend to value our abality to be able to not only defend ourself but have the abality to physicality stand up to a abuse of government who would to take away our rights.

We value or right to free speech and cival rights.
Many nations do not value these rights we do
#15007479
Canadians value the same things, and yet our freedoms,= and civil rights are not in question. I'd even hazard to assert that we're better off for not having a many guns.

Guns don't make your freer. They also will not protect you if your military decides to attack you. I think that it gives you a false sense of security.

The trigger wrote:In America our military would not start killing citizens like other nations do we value our freedoms and rights. ]History show that socialist regimes and Communist regimes go for taking guns to prevent citizens from fighting back.
That doesn't mean that any regime couldn't do the same to you, even if you had guns.

The trigger wrote:In America our military would not start killing citizens like other nations do we value our freedoms and rights. ]In America our military would not start killing citizens like other nations do we value our freedoms and rights.
So why the need for guns, if your have no fear of your government using the military against you? You invalidated your very need for guns with that statement.

What other nations do you speak of? I assume you're talking about nations with similar values and principles.

That's not true, actually in real Socialist and Communist countries, getting the People armed is one of the things the revolutionaries always wanted. Not only that, but there were so many people armed militarily in these countries that if they really wanted to overthrow the revolutionary governments, they could have without much trouble. We on PoFo recently had a whole thread dedicated to this issue, and Liberals were for gun control and the Libertarians, Anarchists, and Communists/Socialists were against gun control.

The trigger wrote:Really then why have the people in Venezuela have thier guns taken away same for cuba and china. After the communists or socialist take over they take guns away and thsts a fact.
False correlation.

The trigger wrote:You know godstud thailand has twice the murder rate with firearms then america
 That's false. Don't you get tired of quoting falsehoods?

In 2016, there were more than 3,000 homicides by a firearm in the country.

Most of the homicides in Thailand are put down to criminal elements, gang activity or conflicts related to a loss of face or personal grievances. There is not the spate of mass shootings that occur so often in the US.

Gun-Related Deaths in America Keep Going Up
In 2016, there were more than 38,000 gun-related deaths in the U.S. — 4,000 more than 2015, the new CDC report on preliminary mortality data shows.

What has Thailand got to do with USA and Democrats? More evasion on your part, I think.

Wrong. Fact is in Venezuela and in Communist/Socialist countries, there are many more armed people, who have the duty to carry those weapons. You have no proof that Socialists or Communists took away guns from the people after a revolution, and that's a fact. If i'm wrong, show me.
