Hong Kong CNN — They arrived in huge numbers on shared bikes after pedaling 30 miles in the evening chill, pumped by the adrenaline of youth and the thrill of embarking on a spontaneous adventure with friends.

Nighttime bike rides to Kaifeng, an ancient city in central China’s Henan province known for its historic sites and soup dumplings, have been all the rage among college students in the nearby provincial capital Zhengzhou – a trend initially encouraged by the government as it sought to promote local tourism. ...

What a happy story, about thousands of college students starting a long-distance nigh-biking trend. Health, tourism, and a rejection of auto-addiction and auto-culture.

Of course, if you read the original CNN article, it emphasizes that "the authorities aren't happy" and "it's causing traffic jams." These are CNN obsessions (sell cars, smear Chinese government) so these elements of the story should be ignored.

Remember to remove the propaganda from international stories when you're reading the Empire's Lie Networks.

And here are the parts I redacted:

CNN's sub-head wrote:That put the government on edge

According to Western media, the Chinese government hates fun, and hates youth. It is irredeemably evil and compromised by this evil. So even a youth-initiate-mass-bikeride story must mention this.

But now, officials are scrambling to curb the craze by deploying police and closing bike lanes...

China, according to Western media, is closing bike rides and clamping down on civilians with a strong police presence.

The USA has virtually no cycling infrastructure, unlike China. And the USA imprisons five times as great a percent of its population as China does.

So the notion that China has a nasty, anti-cycling and anti-youth government.... appears to be projection on the part of Western media.

If 10,000 students in Athens Georgia decide to bike to Atlanta for some fun, I hope foreign media doesn't piss all over it the way CNN has done to this Chinese bike ride story.
