Write an oppinion text on censorship. I have to say if I'm for or against it and I have to explain my point of vue in about 5 to 10 pages. It's for an english class.

Well, I wouldn't like my stuff censorized (is that even a word?).

I write poems about hating Bushler and all this war stuff. But everyone has to face censorship. When you write something for school, like a story or poem, there's always guidelines.

Censorship is everywhere. In the music, on TV, on your NEWS program, in the newspapers, on the radio, in anime.

In the Japanese version of the anime Sailor Moon, Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus are lesbians. But in the dubbed North American version, Neptune and Uranus are "cousins". Ha ha. What a laugh.

The issues and debate section isn't supposed to be a place for endless one line posts, it's supposed to be for proper debate. That is why a few one line posts have been deleted and replaced by this graphic



to try and discourage people from making non-posts in this section of the forum. After all we want adult debate, not a hang out for AOL 'l337' spammers. I know that the people here are above that, but it is the impression that new members get that is important to.

For those of you not aware, for a time on the old EZboard (two years ago) ALL one line posts were replaced with a graphic similar to the above. Well we don't want to go that far, but lets try and keep the Issues and Ideologies sections free of them eh? It doesn't take that much effort to write a proper reply.

ok... well censorship is an integral part of society to protect the people from what they would be better off not seeing. Porn for example is a good choice in being censored. Government dissidents who can not keep there views constructive in nature should also be censored. In my country freedom of the press would be allowed to the extent when it starts becoming counter-productive.

I have yet to visit a Conservative Message board that does not practice some form of censorship. This site is no different. Several of my posts were deleted because the subject matter was found to be too radical for Conservatives. We LIBERALS censor nothing, we believe in dissent, free speech, and free expression. Too bad for you.........

I deleted your posts because they didn't actually contain any content, they essentially amounted to spam. One line of text padded out with emoticons and exclamation marks doesn't make for a substantial argument. Also it is stated quite clearly on the board that there are to be no one line posts in this section of the forum.

The rules of this board apply to everyone - and like it or not that includes YOU.

May I suggest you read the Newbie Guide thread if you have not done so already. And if you have read it already you should probably read it again. This is an adult discussion board, not an adolescent spamfest.

the sort of censorship that gets me is the things we don't know about, cause they are buried in an archieve, classified due to national secuity. then released decades after the fact, only the historians can make heads or tails of it by them. do you think america would have been so gung ho about vietnam, had we known the gulf of tonken was a hoax. i understand the need to keep certian things from public, in the interest of national security, but it's an area to consider when thinking about censorship. does security make censorship acceptable?

Those who know where I live will already know this, but I will reiterate the strange situation anyway.

In Ecuador, showing dead bodies with bullet hole in their heads etc, with trails of human blood at 9:00am is fine...but swearing here is non existant, and breasts and sex are a rarity...I believe that is wrong, the 4 year old kid I was with was watching the screen...and that was fine.

It is impossible to say that all censorship is bad, snuff films, torture videos, rape, even hard core pornography...it's not that I am a christian or anything, it's just because these images can scenes can be accessed by the wrong people, and I think the results of that are far worse than simply not being able to see this kind of thing.

Censorship is an interesting one, and I think that government secrets are there for a reason, if the world was totally peaceful, and everyone loved everyone a la Brave New World, then censorship would not be an issue...it's not...and it it. Governments have always been secretive and pretend to work for our interests by concealing things, covering things up...but you have to ask yourself, why would you want or need to know what your government did, and what dictator they installed?

I'm off the point. I agree with censorship to an extent.
